IMPORTANT NEWSHague Convention on AdoptionDecember 2006 - Thursday's Child submitted an application for accreditation in November and will be working to comply with necessary requirements.
The US plans to implement the Hague Convention on Adoption some time in 2007 and projections are that it will be around the end of 2007. When two countries are members of the Hague Convention on Adoption, the rules will apply to both countries. The Department of State in the US will become our Central Authority and agencies seeking to work with other Hague countries will need to go through a costly and complex accreditation process. The process for agencies that want to be accredited to work in Hague countries has begun. This will take some time to accomplish There will be two levels of providers of adoption services. There will be either primary providers who undergo this accreditation process, and supervised or cooperating agency providers. |
